IKEA Kitchens & Custom Joinery in Sydney

Combine IKEA's modular kitchen cabinets with custom-made joinery for a kitchen that fits your space and looks built in. We supply and manufacture the custom joinery, confirm the measurements and provide the agreed installation services. Pluma Joinery Studio is an independent, NSW-licensed joiner.

Smart Cabinetry. Custom Details. Professionally Installed.

Modular cabinets can be a practical starting point. The finished result depends on the details.

We combine IKEA cabinet systems with custom-made fronts, panels and joinery, then fit everything accurately: cabinets levelled and aligned, gaps closed with fitted panels, and doors adjusted so they line up.

The result is a kitchen planned around your space rather than around standard sizes alone.

Two ways to approach it

  1. Approach 1

IKEA cabinetry with custom fronts and panels

Keep IKEA's cabinets and internal fittings, and replace the visible parts with custom-made doors, drawer fronts, end panels and kickboards in the style and finish you choose.

  2. Approach 2

IKEA cabinetry with standard fronts, complemented by bespoke joinery

Keep IKEA's own fronts, and add custom pieces where standard sizes don't suit: an island, cabinetry around appliances, tall storage or panels that finish the kitchen to the walls and ceiling.

Not sure which suits your kitchen? We can talk it through with your plan and photos.

What we can add

  • Custom-made doors and drawer fronts
  • Custom filler panels and end panels
  • Additional bespoke cabinets and storage
  • Custom kitchen islands
  • Matching cabinetry around appliances
  • Carefully fitted kickboards and finishing panels
  • Professional cabinet installation and adjustment
  • Benchtop sourcing and coordination through specialist suppliers, quoted separately

Customers purchase their IKEA cabinets and fittings directly from IKEA. Pluma Joinery Studio supplies and manufactures the custom joinery components and provides the agreed installation services.

Compatibility comes first

IKEA systems have their own cabinet sizes, hinge and drawer fittings, and these change between ranges and over time. Not every custom component suits every IKEA product. Before anything is made, we confirm:

  • the IKEA system and range you have or plan to buy
  • the measurements of every cabinet, door, drawer front and panel
  • how doors, hinges and drawer fronts attach
  • where custom pieces meet IKEA cabinets, walls and appliances.

If a component isn't compatible, we will tell you before you order. Modifying IKEA cabinets can affect the manufacturer's warranty, so we discuss any changes with you first.

Projects of every size

From a single custom panel, island or set of fronts to a complete kitchen, every project gets the same careful measuring and fitting. We are happy to add custom pieces to an existing IKEA kitchen.

How it works

  1. Share your plan. Send your IKEA kitchen plan (if you have one), a few photos and your suburb through the contact form.
  2. Review and compatibility. We review the plan and confirm what can be combined, with a site assessment where needed.
  3. Design and quote. We confirm the custom details, materials and finishes, and prepare a written quote.
  4. Manufacture. Custom components are made to the confirmed measurements and specifications.
  5. Installation. We provide the agreed installation services, then adjust every door, drawer and panel.

What's included and what's not

  • IKEA cabinets and fittings. Customers purchase their IKEA cabinets and fittings directly from IKEA. Pluma Joinery Studio supplies and manufactures the custom joinery components and provides the agreed installation services.
  • Benchtops. Benchtops are not part of the cabinetry installation, but we can source and coordinate them through specialist suppliers and installers, quoted separately.
  • Plumbing, electrical and gas work are not included in our joinery installation service. By law, they must be carried out by appropriately licensed tradespeople. We may be able to coordinate licensed trades separately, subject to availability.
